The Tohono O’odham Cultural Center and Museum, or Himdag Ki: (culture house), will use grant funds to increase the professional development capacity of the museum to care for its collections. Two interns will be hired and trained by staff members from the Arizona State Museum, Western Archaeological Conservation Center, and Archaeology Southwest, to process a large, recently donated archaeological collections. A hands-on curriculum will then be developed among three training agencies and compiled into an easy to understand desk reference handbook to provide guidance and instruction for the processing of other large collections. A new server will be purchased to increase storage space for electronic records and the collections database.
