Minnesota Chippewa Tribe/Mille Lacs

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe will use its grant to transfer DVD-format video footage to a digitized documentary of Mille Lacs Band members performing and narrating traditional Ojibwe cultural activities. The outcome will be a documentary suitable for television broadcast, museum dissemination, and viewing in schools. The primary objective of this documentary project is to inform the public of the cultural and spiritual significance of the natural world for the Ojibwe people. The second objective is to inform the public of the traditional techniques and superior craftsmanship of Mille Lacs Band members. The project seeks to preserve and promote traditional Ojibwe cultural and spiritual relationships with the natural world.
