Makah Indian Tribe
Log Number: MN-03-11-0011-11
The Makah Indian Tribe will use grant funds to digitize the Ozette slide collection, consisting of more than 2,000 slides, and catalog it into the PastPerfect integrated computer database program. The slide collection will become automated, allowing quick and easy access to collections with links to related slides. The software will make the photographic collection much more accessible to patrons and staff, as well as provide for additional preservation of the collection. The Makah Cultural and Research Center is the sole repository for the Ozette collection, a precontact collection of 55,000 artifacts excavated from the Makah village of Ozette on Washington’s outer coast.
