Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians

The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians Eyaawing Museum and Cultural Center will begin a project to catalogue, archive, and store 400 recordings of tribal elders, cultural activities, oral histories, photographs, artifacts, and sacred objects collected from 1996 to the present. Two Eyaawing Curator/Archivist Assistants will be contracted to work on the project. As a result of the project, the collection will be stored in one place and available for easy access for workshops and other events. GTB’s Museum and Cultural Center is a community-based institution dedicated to tribal members past, present, and future by strengthening cultural identity through the gathering, preservation, and interpretation of history, cultural practice, and language renewal.
