Gila River Indian Community

The Gila River Indian Community will develop a comprehensive collections plan in order to lay the foundation for managing current and future archaeological and ethnographic collections originating from the Gila River Indian Community. The project will also include staff training to ensure accountability for all items of the collection, including appropriate inventory, catalog, assessment, and caretaking. A collections management database will be researched and established to record and manage all collections. Behind-the-scenes tours, demonstrations, visits to elder and youth groups, and volunteer activities will help generate the active participation, input, and guidance of more tribal members in regard to the care and exhibition of the collections.
