Seldovia Village Tribe

Log Number: MN-03-10-0022-10

The Seldovia Village Tribe in Alaska will use its funding to temporarily hire a museum curator and a videographer to digitize video of first-hand experiences of Seldovia’s rich history as told by community elders through stories and interviews. These stories will be incorporated with photographs and made publicly accessible for the first time through an interactive touch-screen kiosk exhibit. The digital archives include recent and historical photographs depicting Seldovia community members and events, 17 audiotapes of interviews with local elders, and videotapes of Homecoming (2007) and Seal Camp (2009) in which many community members and elders participated. Through the kiosk exhibit, knowledge and stories of Seldovia’s history, people, culture, and heritage will be preserved and shared for generations to come.
