The Seneca Nation of New York will use its grant to fund the next phase of its five-year strategic plan to replace its aging Seneca-Iroquois National Museum facility. The tribe will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study that will build on a concept plan and needs assessment conducted in 2009. The study, which will include concept refinement; site, space, and facility requirements; and management and staffing, market, and financial analysis, will provide an objective determination of the economic and operational viability of a new facility and describe the specific conditions required to make the project feasible. Once completed, the study will provide the tribal council and museum board and staff with a concise and multipronged critical path for the development of a sustainable and effective facility to meet the needs of the collection, programmatic objectives, and community expectations.
