The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, through its cultural center and museum, the Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture and Lifeways, will begin a Cultural Heritage and Education Project to create formalized cultural and educational programs and delivery tools that align with Michigan Department of Education standards for curriculum and grade level. A printed and downloadable Student and Educator Program Guide will provide a resource for teachers and educators to teach a culturally relevant Anishinabe curriculum that supports the tribe’s unique historic and contemporary perspective as well as its contributions to the fields of art, science, and culture. Two special consultants will aid with the development of the program. This project will further enhance the progression of the Ziibiwing Center’s growth and provide another stepping stone toward American Association of Museums accreditation.
