The Ka Lama Mohala Foundation, a Native Hawaiian organization located in Utah, will develop an exhibit displaying a traditional Native Hawaiian Hale (grass hut). Because Utah is home to the 10th largest concentration of Native Hawaiians on the mainland, the exhibition will give visitors a real-life context for understanding the living conditions and activities of early Hawaiians. During the exhibition, Na Kupuna (elders) will be on hand to teach children and families firsthand about Native Hawaiian culture and how Hawaiian traditions are relevant and valuable on the mainland.
