Chilkat Indian Village

The Chilkat Indian Village will document and inventory clan/house trust pieces, identify both immediate and long-term conservation needs of Tlingit artifacts, and continue education for tribal members in the field of museum work. The project will also develop interpretive content and a basic exhibit plan for the Whale House Collection, which will be exhibited in the Jilkaat Kwaan Cultural Heritage Center in Klukwan, Alaska. Project collaborators include the Alaska State Museum, the Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center, an exhibit development expert, clan leaders, and tribal elders.
