Koniag, Incorporated’s tribal museum, the Alutiiq Museum, will transform a collection of approximately 50,000 physical images—prints, slides, and negatives—into a well-organized, documented, and accessible photographic archive. Staff will reorganize the photographic collection, re-house individual collections, develop finding aids, complete catalogs, and computerize the results. In addition to adding a photograph collections section to their Web site, the museum will create a monthly photo spotlight flyer for e-mail broadcast, publication in the Kodiak newspaper, and museum posting. It will also share the project in a newsletter article (circulation 3,000) and host a free community lecture on its photographic holdings.
