Ponca Tribe of Nebraska
Log Number: MN-03-08-0034-08
The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska will create a digital heritage resource portraying the four eras of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. They will use various resources to create a professional digital display formatted to play in DVD players. The digital display and a traditional artifact (buffalo hides with Ponca eras portrayed in the traditional winter count calendar) will incorporate Ponca history into five visual exhibits. The tribe will display the exhibits at the five Ponca-owned sites in Nebraska and Iowa that serve the various communities. The exhibit will be offered on loan to local schools, galleries, and universities upon request. A brochure and posters for the exhibit will be developed and sent to area schools, museums and rest areas along the Interstate. Project Staff will work with local schools and businesses to share the exhibit.
