Pechanga Band of Luiseño Mission Indians
Log Number: MN-02-11-0020-11
The Pechanga Band of Luiseño Mission Indians will use grant funds to offer three internship positions and one exhibit design position at its Pechanga Cultural Center in order to process a collection received on long-term loan from the San Bernardino County Museum. This collection, known as the Teméku Collection, consists of more than 30,000 artifacts that had been excavated nearly 60 years ago from the traditional place of Luiseño creation. The new internship and exhibit design positions will assist with researching, analyzing, cataloging, preservation, and exhibition of this collection. The Pechanga Tribe and the Robert and Frances Fullerton Art Museum on the California State University, San Bernardino, campus have formed a partnership to exhibit portions of the Teméku collection as well as artisan work and material culture crafted by ancestral Pechanga people.
