Tulalip Tribes of Washington

Log Number: MN-02-06-0029-06

The Tulalip Tribes of the Tulalip Reservation broke ground on the construction of a new museum in February, 2006.  To prepare for the opening of this new facility, the Tribe has plans to train its staff to meet the highest level of best practices for collections care and museum stewardship.  Funds will be used to hire several consultants who will provide training over a one-year period in areas such as collection storage, object handling, and archiving photographs and historical documents.  The staff will also be trained in proper accessioning, cataloging, and information management techniques.  Additional funds will be used to pay for the Assistant Curator to enroll in the Certificate Program in Museum Studies at the University of Washington, and to support several trips to other tribal museums in the Northwest Coast region.
