White Mountain Apache Tribe will implement a living heritage educational and interpretive program centered on the re-creation of a traditional Apache garden. Educational and interpretive materials, including student activities, visitor guide handouts, and live presentations, will be developed in consultation with community elders and cultural experts. This project builds upon recent work by the White Mountain Apache Tribe’s Nohwike’ Bagowa Museum and collaborating community organizations to document and perpetuate traditional Apache horticulture and to reinvigorate family gardening and will expand the museum’s cultural interpretation efforts.
