Stockbridge-Munsee Community

The Stockbridge Munsee Community will use its grant to begin the How We Got Here: Values Gained, Values Lost project. The project will be an exhibit designed as a historical journey told through five components. The exhibit components will include a treaty display, a 3-D depiction of reservation “headquarters” in 1937, a historic bell, traditional dress regalia, and a touch screen showcasing Mohican clans in the native language. Three corresponding workshops with tribal members focusing on history, settlement, and traditions will be held throughout the exhibit development. The project aims to increase visitor participation with the museum and increase community knowledge of the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribe’s history.
