Cherokee Nation

The Cherokee Nation will create two special tours incorporating the Cherokee language into existing living history programming in the Historic Village at the Cherokee Heritage Center. An introductory Cherokee Language Tour will be designed to expose non-speakers to the Cherokee language in the context of interpreting historic events and activities. The advanced Cherokee Language Tour, designed for speakers of the language, will completely immerse the visitor in the Cherokee language as they go back into an early 18th-century Cherokee Village. Funding will support the translation of the village script into the Cherokee language and the services of two fluent Cherokee Language Specialists to guide visitors on tours.
