Lower Brule Sioux Tribe

Log Number: MN-01-08-0010-08

The goal of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Digital Archive Management Project is to create the necessary structures within the Archive to manage the great variety of historical material known to exist by and about Lower Brule people - including treaty documents, Tribal Council minutes and resolutions, BIA documents, missionary papers, maps and aerial photographs, and family papers. The Project will obtain and implement an archival document management program, as well as engage an archival technician who will support the Archive's ongoing work and ensure that recordation standards and procedures remain consistent over time and across the variety of media relevant to the Archive. Cultural Resources staff, along with the Tribe's Elder Advisory Committee, Tribal Chairman and Council, and staff from other departments and programs, will identify documents and develop an appropriate classification system, organizational structure, and thesaurus for metadata entry.
