Tolowa Dee-ni Nation

The Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation will assess its collection, draft a management plan, and train staff in proper preservation and conservation techniques. The creation and adoption of a collections management plan with associated policies and procedures will address the current challenges with permanent collection storage, including overcrowding, off-gassing storage boxes and shelving, and a lack of collection monitoring processes and exhibit rotation. Under the direction of a consulting collections manager, the project will address immediate remediation of objects that are currently housed in unstable conditions. The project will be overseen by the Culture Department, collaborating with the Nation's Language Committee, Culture Committee, and NAGPRA Committee.
