PA'I Foundation will partner with the Honolulu Museum of Art to create events and activities that will accompany the exhibition, "Ho'oulu Hawai'i: The King Kalakaua Era." The exhibition will bring together artwork from other museums and institutions specific to the Kalakaua dynasty. To better tell the stories of the exhibit pieces in the exhibition, PA'I will engage Native Hawaiian artists, cultural practitioners, storytellers, musicians, mea oli (chanters), kumu hula (master teachers of Hawaiian dance) and halau hula to bring the display to life by sharing the stories, music, chants and dances of the Kalakaua era. The project will benefit the Native Hawaiian community, artists and cultural practitioners who will have the opportunity to engage with these exhibit pieces for the first time in over a hundred years.
