Tejon Indian Tribe

Log Number: MN-00-15-0032-15

In response to a shortage of appropriate collections storage facilities in central California, the Tejon Indian Tribe will plan and establish a new tribally run and operated archaeological collections repository and research facility that will serve not only their tribe but other regional tribes as well. With the help of hired consultants who will provide expertise in storage system design and building standards, the tribe will be able to provide an appropriate place for Native people to store and care for their archaeological collections and, in turn, benefit the greater academic and anthropological community. With this new repository, the tribe aims to serve as a model of economically sustainable tribal historic preservation and to lay the foundation for a future tribal museum.
