The Makah Cultural and Research Center will conduct the Exhibit Repair and Restoration Project to repair an exhibit diorama that has sustained damage due to water intrusion. This was identified as one of the high-priority recommendations within the museum's recent Conservation Assessment Program report. Additionally, staff will remove an outdated and damaged sound system and purchase and install a new audio system that provides a more immersive experience in the diorama exhibit areas through sound effects and recorded conversations held in the Makah language. Finally, the center will hire a skilled carpenter to build and install new benches for rest and reflection throughout the museum. The successful completion of this project will improve the center's environmental control, restore the integrity of the exhibits, and enhance the visitors' experience.
