Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin

The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe (LCO) will develop a permanent exhibition focused on the tribe's ogichidaag, or veterans, called "Memorial to LCO Ogichidaag." This will be the first permanent installation in the LCO Museum and Visitor Center and the first time information about the ogichidaag will be collected, organized, and accessible. Project staff will undertake research visits to libraries and archives, as well as conduct in-person interviews of up to 100 tribal veterans, leading to the establishment of a repository of photos, artifacts, and documentation about the tribal members who have served the tribe and broader community with distinction. Information in the veterans' repository will be made available to visitors, utilized as a part of the teaching curriculum at local schools, and will support public lectures given at the museum.
