Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma will complete the Hear, See, Speak Shawnee (Kanoti, Kanama, Kasiwinewitowa) project to help the tribe towards its goal of sustaining Eastern Shawnee heritage, culture, and knowledge through strengthened language programming. Staff will participate in five professional development workshops and three webinars to enhance their language teaching techniques. They will also develop and produce a language workbook and companion CD with Shawnee words, phrases, and expressions pronounced by a Native language speaker. These will be distributed to every Eastern Shawnee tribal household and made available at the tribal library and museum in order to help preserve the Shawnee language for future generations.
