Papahana Kuaola

Papahana Kuaola will develop a free multilingual (Hawaiian and English) mobile application allowing users to experience self-guided tours of select cultural and natural resources on the island of Oahu. Three sites - Diamond Head State Monument, Makapu'u Overlook, and Nu'uanu Pali State Park - will be presented through text, multimedia clips, and GIS technology, imparting comprehensive information about their natural and cultural history from a Hawaiian perspective while introducing the concept of m?lama (to care for). The mobile application, to be used as a tour guide at these sites or elsewhere, will increase users' understanding of preserving and perpetuating Hawaiian culture.
