The Kaw nation's Kanza Museum will expand its community and school outreach efforts by designing and creating an outdoor classroom consisting of seating stones and Native plantings. To enhance the new learning space, a quarter-mile-long nature trail will begin and end at the classroom to provide educational opportunities about the local ecosystem. Curricula founded upon the philosophy, theory, and practices of experimental and environmental education, combined with tribal history and cultural practices, will be created and lessons presented will change with the season. More than 200 children are expected to benefit from the educational opportunities presented in this outdoor environment.
