Squaxin Island Tribe
Log Number: MN-00-05-0036-05
The Squaxin Island Tribe seeks to expand the educational component of its Museum, Library and Research Center (MLRC), which opened in 2002. The tribe will accomplish this goal over the course of a year through a three-phase process. The first phase is a collaborative process among the Shelton School District, Evergreen State College, St. Martin's College, and community leaders to identify potential programs. The second phase will assess feasibility and target those ideas that best fit the tribe's mission statement and budgetary needs. The third phase will implement the selected programs and develop a fundraising strategy to ensure sustainability. The Squaxin Island Tribe will focus these educational programs on the ethnobotany, ethnozoology, and the cultural and political history of the south Puget Sound region.
