Karuk Tribe

The People's Center Museum/Cultural Center showcases the arts and cultural history of the Karuk Tribe. This project will extend two existing programs: weekly basket-weaving classes and two annual basket weaver gatherings attracting artisans from throughout northern California. It will also introduce a traditional dress-making class for women and a men's/youth regalia-making class. These activities will increase awareness among community members and the general public of the rich heritage of the Karuk Tribe, as well as generate extra income and employment for tribal members.
