Tohono O'odham Nation

In early 2006, the Tohono O'odham Nation will open a new cultural center and museum named Himdig Ki: Hekihu, Im B I-Ha'ap, Way of Life House. In preparation for this historic event, the tribe will publish a book, which called a Cornerstone Publication, to coincide with the opening. It will provide a basic background of the history, culture, language, and traditions of the Tohono O'odham Nation. The book will focus on the life histories of 16 community members: four elders, four adults, four young adults, and four children. The inclusion of their stories will enable the book to offer a more accurate representation of the oral traditions of the Tohono O'odham and give it a voice that is lacking in other publications.
