Poarch Band of Creek Indians

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians owns and administers the Calvin McGhee Cultural Center, which is located on its main reservation. The tribe will focus on updating the exhibit and storage components of the museum, as well as improving the professional development of its two permanent staff members. Documents and photographs will be digitally scanned and the originals will be housed in a fire-proof media cabinet. Objects will be rotated in the development of new exhibits to avoid lengthy exposure to harmful conditions. The cultural/archives director and the tribal cultural assistant will gain valuable experience by attending the Web-Wise 2006 conference, as well as a visiting the National Museum of the American Indian.
