San Carlos Apache Tribe
Log Number: MN-00-05-0017-05
The San Carlos Apache tribe owns and administers the San Carlos Apache Cultural Center, which has, for the past seven years, been located in a converted restaurant building. The cultural center houses a limited number of artifacts and examples of craft work, but also functions in a manner similar to a local chamber of commerce, presenting pamphlets and other information about the tribe to the general public. The tribe seeks to strengthen museum services by developing and implementing activities directly related to the revitalization and preservation of the Apache language and traditional ways. This grant will enable the cultural center to offer weekly classes in Apache language, traditional cooking, and traditional sewing.
