The Nohwike'Bágowa (House of Our Footprints), the museum of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, was founded in 1969 to promote the understanding, appreciation, and perpetuation of the arts, history, and cultural traditions of the Apache people through the preservation of archival materials and objects of cultural and historical significance. The museum houses almost 1,500 artifacts and approximately 300 linear feet of archival materials, including thousands of photographs. This grant will enable the museum to purchase computer hardware and software as well as other supplies necessary for creating computerized collections records. The museum will also hire and train a collections clerk who will be responsible for conducting a thorough collections and archival inventory, establishing permanent storage locations for all artifacts and archival material, and producing computerized collections records.
