San Diego Botanic Garden

Purpose: Reaching Families and Children This grant will enable Quail Botanical Gardens to partner with the children's Discovery Museum of North San Diego County for Inside/Outside World Cultures, a joint collaboration that will directly support the missions and strategic plans of both institutions. The project will create an exhibit and coordinated family programs at each site, exploring world cultures through each museum's unique perspective: the first year will feature Pacific Rim cultures, and year two will highlight Central America. Quail Botanical Gardens will explore the connections between nature and the culture of each region, while the children's museum will explore the arts and everyday life. In addition to the child-focused exhibits, the museums will work jointly to develop and implement Saturday Family Programs, K-4 school outreach, and online activities that support the other project elements, expanding the reach of the exhibits and broadly reaching families and children.
