Philadelphia Zoo

Purpose: Expanding Educational Services The Philadelphia Zoo will take interactive Zoo science lessons into high school classrooms across Pennsylvania and support teachers in delivering this multimedia initiative. The Zoo will develop and produce live video conferences and teacher training surrounding the CD-ROM-based learning lesson The Philadelphia Zoo and You: Saving Giant Otters; it will reach 3,600 high school students and 40 teachers. This project represents the first significant effort to roll out the Saving Giant Otters curriculum and the zoo's first video conferences. The Zoo will provide schools with teacher training workshops, copies of the CD-ROM and teacher's guides, and video-conferencing lessons live from the Zoo. This project will be the zoo's first large-scale effort to meet its mission using technology to reach students and teachers and "inspire learning and action beyond its gates.
