Log Number: ML-02-03-0771-03

Purpose: Expanding Educational Services This grant will allow the Houghton County Historical Society to implement key goals of its strategic plan, which will result in the improved ability of the Houghton County Historical Museum to provide educational services to public and private K-12 schools, the local University community, families, and the lifelong learning community. An educational interpretative program will be developed around the museum's site, once home to the world's largest copper mill in the early 1900s. In addition, funds will be used to develop designs for working models and a virtual tour of the milling site and the mill town. The Historical Society will collaborate with the Keweenaw National Historic Park to help visitors learn about milling and its importance to the development of the copper boom.
