Pennsylvania Historical And Museum (Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania)

Purpose: Expanding Educational Services The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania will use grant funding to complete two projects related to the museum's effort to expand its educational services. First, the Museum will develop a new orientation DVD that will be shown to all visitors upon arrival. The new presentation will orient the visitor to the museum's physical layout, provide a brief history of the Museum and its collection, and its importance to Pennsylvania's railroading industry. It will combine historical stock film and still images and audio with new color footage to create an educational and memorable experience for the viewer. The second project will replace shopworn outdated labels in the museum's Rolling Stock Hall and outside. New text and photos will target a family audience. Ten digital information stations strategically placed in the Hall will allow visitors to access movie clips, MP3 audio clips, and information on selected pieces.
