Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest

Purpose: Expanding Educational Services Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest will expand the use of a unique, hand-held computer that visitors use as a guide for outdoor exhibits. Four specific enhancements to the hand-helds are planned: 1) adding sound content to serve visitors with vision impairments as well as enhancing the appeal of the exhibit; 2) adding video to allow visitors to see the interpreters; and, 3) adding the ability for visitors to record their own notes and information as they view the outdoor exhibits and to email their recordings. The project will benefit other museums that may wish to explore this emerging technology
