Museum of East Tennessee History

Purpose: Expanding Educational Services The East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS) will use this grant to expand its education services. It will focus on it new core exhibit, Voices of the Land. ETHS will add or expand (1) low-tech components of the new exhibit, (2) small group programs/activities designed to take place in each make section of the exhibit, (3) classroom materials, and (4) development workshops for teachers. Among ETHS' goals are increased student visits to the ETHS museum and increased teacher competencies in East Tennessee history. Efforts will be made to increase student awareness of their personal ability to explore and interpret history as well as skills using primary resources such as artifacts, documents, photos, and oral histories. The comprehensive undertaking will employ ten strategies resulting in curriculum development, teacher development, and new print and digital promotional materials, and more, bringing history alive for students and teachers.
