Building Public Access The Maine Historical Society will establish "Community History Outreach Program," a statewide campaign to build public access to historical collections held by organizations throughout Maine. The program stems from a pilot project to recruit organizations to participate in the Maine Memory Network, a national recognized digital museum. The Society's program will provide unprecedented access to historical collections throughout the state; give cultural organizations tools and support free of charge, to scan, upload, catalog, and manage their collections online; increase preservation and interpretation of Maine history; and foster collaboration between cultural organizations and schools.
