City of Alexandria (Alexandria Black History Museum)

The Alexandria Black History Museum will digitize materials documenting Alexandria’s African American history, including approximately 1,500 records from its object collection as well as the catalog of approximately 4,000 volumes in the Watson Reading Room. For the project, museum staff will update and standardize information and documentation across digital and physical formats as well as add records and photographs to missing or incomplete materials. As a result of the project, staff will make collections materials such as photographs, documents, and rare books accessible online. Beneficiaries of the project will include educators, scholars, and public researchers.
