Louis Armstrong House Museum

Log Number: MH-253539-OMS-23

The Louis Armstrong House Museum (LAHM) will build staff capacity to activate the new Armstrong Center through a culturally relevant reinvention of the museum experience that will welcome the local Corona/East Elmhurst community and the global jazz community into the new Center. LAHM staff will work with consultants to develop a communications plan focused on reaching the target audience in the local community. LAHM staff, jazz artists and historians, and neighbors will co-create a specialized tour presented in English and Spanish. Additional programs will include six performances for the public in the garden including a student performance, along with workshops on topics of relevance to the community such as housing, incarceration and family health. This project will result in a greater understanding and appreciation of Louis Armstrong within the community he lived in for 30 years.
