American Jazz Museum

Log Number: MH-251885-OMS-22

The American Jazz Museum will improve the care of the John H. Baker Film Collection by conducting an inventory and catalog project. Based on recommendations from a 2021 Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) report, the museum will contract with a filmmaker/preservationist to be assisted by a student intern to assess, inventory, and catalog more than 2,000 film titles dating from 1927 through the 1970s. They will digitize a subset of films and make them available to the public, along with educational programming developed in partnership with local institutions of higher education. The project will result in increased museum capacity to handle the collection, richer content with which to develop future programs, and wider access to the collection.
