New York Public Library (Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture)

Log Number: MH-249470-OMS-21

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture will produce and deliver professional development training workshops for educators focused on the Schomburg Curriculum—a series of classroom-ready lessons incorporating high-quality reproductions of items from the Schomburg’s rich collections, designed to help educators and students explore key themes of Black history. This project will better enable educators to help students in grades 6-12 study and engage with these complex themes. Workshops conducted will both enhance educators’ knowledge of Black historical narratives and the Schomburg’s collections and improve teachers’ capacity to implement the Schomburg Curriculum in their classrooms.
