The National Underground Railroad Freedom center's Museum Science Apprenticeship Program is designed to attract recent and talented graduates from across the country, with a focus on recruiting from historically black colleges and universities. IMLS funds will support one new participant in this intensive program that combines on-the-job training and classroom instruction over a two-year period with the goal of providing the expertise needed to sustain a career in the museum field. The intern will complete coursework at the University of Cincinnati, earning a certificate in museum studies, as well as an eight-week summer internship at a partner African American cultural institution in the United States.
