A collections management program for the University Museum at Texas Southern University will increase the knowledge and skills of current staff members about the process of digitizing works of art. An experienced archivist will be hired to work alongside the museum registrar and current archival staff members to coordinate a program to provide safekeeping, cataloging, indexing, and storage of the documents and items within the collections, including the Barbara Jordan Collection at the Robert J. Terry Library. Consulting professionals will assist with the accomplishment of project goals by providing an initial assessment of collection documentation, formulating a plan of work, and monitoring progress. A scanning technician will also be hired to begin the actual digitization of collections, and an information kiosk will be created in the museum gallery to increase public access to the museum's collections information.
