National Museum of Mexican Art
Log Number: MG-50-18-0037-18
The National Museum of Mexican Art, in partnership with the DuSable Museum of African American History, will launch a project aimed at diversifying curatorial leadership and building a pipeline for future leaders in arts administration. Over the course of the project, the museum will recruit two museum fellows of color annually from graduate programs in related fields. The fellowships will provide an opportunity to learn from, engage with, and be mentored by curatorial and museum professionals who are leaders in first voice organizations. Fellows will form a cohort that will come together each year to share experiences and support each other's advancement. The project team will also facilitate eight workshops per year for Chicago Public High Schools students of color interested in museum studies. Museum professionals of color from institutions across the city will lead hands-on sessions that provide students with knowledge of art collections, conservation, curation, administration, and insight into the realities of the field.
