The Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) will lead research exploring how museums approach serving all people and communities through their exhibits, programs, and events in the post-pandemic era. ASTC will partner with the Garibay Group and the Association of Children’s Museums to develop and conduct a national survey to understand current internal and external practices in the museum field and convene a group of 60 museum leaders and practitioners to discuss survey findings, as well as the challenges and resources needed to implement these practices and support institutional planning strategies. As a result of this project, museum professionals will become more knowledgeable about how they can better serve their visitors and local community and grow their understanding of how to operationalize these practices. Museum associations and professional networks will benefit by deepening their knowledge of organizational-level practices, so that they might enhance their professional development and capacity-building efforts to support members.
