Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts

The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts will partner with LYRASIS to develop a suite of resources to support succession planning for collections care staff and related volunteer positions. Project activities will begin with listening sessions with museums, libraries, and archives to learn about the nuances of succession planning strategies. Findings will inform the development of educational materials such as technical bulletins, resource lists, checklists, fact sheets, infographics, bibliographies, and videos. The center will offer educational programs to present strategies to prepare for staffing transitions and will disseminate materials online and through conference sessions and webinars. The project is designed to assist museum leadership and governing bodies in understanding the complexity of collections management and stewardship roles, to support museum leaders in fostering growth in these positions, and to help ensure the continuity of care for museum collections.
