Oregon Museum of Science and Industry will use the grant for its program Museum Cafés: Integrating Food, Money, and Mission, which aims to develop a business plan outlining how institutions can use their own cafes to educate the public about important 21st century food topics. The business plan advisory committee of regional food and education experts will develop innovative educational experiences to teach food science, health, and the environment to the public such as Dirt to Dinner, an event showcasing the lifecycle of food. The business plan will be adaptable and replicable for diverse institutions and in-house cafés across the nation with varying facility sizes, public cooking and demonstration spaces, and degrees of integration with food service providers.
