Note: (a) denotes an amendment made outside of the original awardThe American Alliance of Museums will offer additional opportunities for small and medium sized museum to engage with the Museum Assessment Program (MAP). MAP is designed to help museums of all types become more sustainable and professional, build capacity, and be better able to serve their communities. The initial two-year cooperative agreement focused on revising the existing MAP program and recruiting 100 new and 50 returning museum participants. The cooperative agreement includes: revising three existing assessments, resurrecting and revising a previous assessment, and creating one new assessment; developing and delivering Peer Reviewer recruitment, training, and performance accountability measures; creating new resources and implementation support for museum participants; implementing all program revisions; and gathering and analyzing participant feedback.
Amendment 2020: $542,173 in additional funds were approved in July 2020 to support 100 museums in one of five standard assessments and another 50 returning museums for a follow-up assessment.
Amendment 2022: $601,550 in additional funds were awarded in 2022 to support participation of 150 museums in a 2023 MAP cohort.
